I'm Jade
I have been refinishing furniture for six years now. Three years part time and three years full time! And I can tell you these have been the best six years of my life. But let’s take a look at my story.
I was an exhausted office worker who just wanted something different with my life.
I dreamed about working for myself, in a job that I actually enjoyed, while being able to support my kids.
I started refinishing furniture as a hobby, away from the stress of my corporate job and busy mum life.
As soon as I picked up the paint brush I fell in love. I was never overly artistic growing up, but when I had a paint brush in my hands I just felt at peace.
When I ran out of my own furniture to paint, I started buying pieces to refinish and then sell for a profit.
Little did I know this was the beginning of my business today. I worked nights, after I finished my day job and put my kids to sleep.
It very quickly grew to become a successful and lucrative side hustle.
After a couple of years I took the leap and went full time in my business. I steadily got busier until I was booked out months in advance providing a commission service and creating the odd flip piece.
Been the entrepreneurial mind I am, I then wanted to start an online e-commerce business selling products for the furniture refinishing community. This is called Refinish Haven.
Over the years I have grown my social media presence to be a community of over 300 thousand people across multiple platforms. Selling digital products including e-books, online courses, membership and working with brands.
I’m so proud of what I have created. Refinishing furniture helped me heal my mental and physical health and enabled me to find my true self again.
