Transform Your Linen Cupboard: A Step-by-Step Guide to Stress-Free Organisation
Do you feel stressed and overwhelmed by a messy space? Well… You're not alone! I hate messy spaces and studies show that clutter can significantly impact our mental well-being.
I recently transformed my laundry into a beautiful space ( I made it stylish and functional for less than $300 and you can check out that makeover here) but after I completed the transformation, I realised that in order to finish off the space correctly, I couldn’t neglect my chaotic linen cupboard.
Today, I'm tackling that space head-on by transforming it into a beautifully organised haven, all with the help of amazing storage solutions from Bunnings! 🧺✨
Here is a list of the baskets and containers I used in this makeover:-

A tidy home can make a world of difference in your daily life. Having a clutter free home enhances the aesthetic appeal of your home, but also contributes to a sense of calm and control. If you are feeling overwhelmed by the state of your home currently, you just want to start organising and decluttering room by room.
Now let’s dive into how I organised my linen cupboard.
The first step is to discard old, unused items that are just taking up space. Go through your linen cupboard and remove anything that's worn out, stained, or hasn't been used in the past year. Donate or recycle items that are still in good condition but no longer needed. Be creative when donating, I found that my local animal shelter was looking for donations of flat sheets and blankets to use for the animals and it was a great way to reuse them.
Next, sort the remaining items into categories such as towels, bed linens, tablecloths, and cleaning supplies. This will make it easier to find what you need when you need it.
Now that you know how many items you have to store in the linen cupboard, you want to measure the space and get an idea of how many baskets you want and what size they need to be. The quantity of each basket I used is above.
Once you have the baskets it’s time to start folding. When folding, try to keep everything uniform. Here’s a handy tip for folding towels to fit perfectly in your containers: place the container on top of the towel and use it as a guide to fold the towel to the correct size.
Using storage boxes and containers, organises everything neatly. Choose containers that fit your items comfortably. Transparent boxes are great for visibility, while labeled opaque boxes can help you maintain a clean look. Baskets are perfect for storing bulky items like blankets and pillows.
Finally, add labels to keep everything in its place. This step not only helps you stay organised but also adds a touch of style to your linen cupboard. Consider using attractive labels or even a label maker for a polished look. Don’t forget to style the space with a few decorative elements, such as scented sachets or small plants, to make it visually pleasing and welcoming. Here is my amazing before and after!
Now let me give you some additional tips for organising your linen cupboard.
- Vertical Space: Utilise the full height of your cupboard by adding extra shelves or stackable containers. This can significantly increase your storage capacity.
- Door Storage: Use the inside of the cupboard door for additional storage. Over-the-door racks can hold items like cleaning supplies or smaller linens.
- Seasonal Rotation: Keep frequently used items at eye level and store seasonal items higher up or lower down. This way, you’re not constantly rummaging through less-used items to get to what you need.
Once you have organised the space you will feel a huge weight lift off your shoulders. You will be able to find what you need quickly without having to dig through piles of clutter which will help you save time and make household chores less daunting.
You will also find that proper organisation maximises the available space, making it possible to store more items neatly and efficiently.
Now that my laundry is all new and beautiful, I couldn’t live with a messy linen cupboard again and I’m so glad that I organised it 🌿
It’s your turn to take your laundry cupboard from messy to marvellous! 🌟
